The Marble Room was started by Kathleen Rooney and Olivia Lilley and began on June 16th, 2013, with Timothy Moore helping co-curate beginning in September. The Marble Room brings together local Chicago writers with visiting national writers for a salon-style reading accompanied with music and wine, at Wicker Park’s The Parlor.
$5 at the door every third Sunday of the month, starting at 4:00pm. The Parlor is located at 1434 N. Western Ave, Chicago, Illinois 60622.
KathleenRooney is a founding editor of Rose Metal Press and a member of PoemsWhile You Wait. Her most recent book, the novel in poems Robinson Alone (Gold Wake, 2012) won the Eric Hoffer Award, and her essays and criticism have appeared recently in The Believer, The New York Times, and the Poetry Foundation web site. Her debut novel. O, Democracy! is forthcoming in Spring 2014 with Fifth Star Press.
Olivia Lilley is a Chicago based experimental theatre director, designer, writer, curator, and producer. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a B.F.A. in Drama in May 2012. Olivia is also an alumnus of Interlochen Arts Academy, where she majored in Music Composition. In May 2013, Olivia co-founded the underground performance space, “The Parlor” with colleagues, Jessica Salzinski and Matt Gallagher.
